But a stunning duplex penthouse, owned by a celeb (name hidden on request) and designed by Livspace, is challenging those expectations, offering a luxurious escape into the heart of the Aegean.

This gorgeous duplex penthouse, the brainchild of Livspace interior designer, Jyoti Jaiswal, transports our celebrity client to the idyllic shores of Santorini. Drawing inspiration from the Cyclades islands, the home features a captivating blend of limewashed walls, pops of Aegean blues, and natural textures that evoke the beauty of the Greek coastline.

A hint of what’s to come: The inviting entryway
The journey to this haven begins with a midnight blue rustic wooden door design that opens directly into the heart of the duplex. The stairs have colourful Moroccan tiles and wooden treads, and the floor at the entryway is a mix of two styles: stone tiles cover half of the space, and then beautiful wooden-looking tiles continue throughout the open living space, the dining area, and the kitchen.
The foyer furniture piece is perfect for this Santorini-inspired duplex. The rustic green paint of the unit adds a touch of warmth and Aegean charm, just like a traditional Santorini home.
Living in the lap of luxury: Aegean, rustic, and airy
Here, the expansive windows bathe the space in natural light, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Gurgaon skyline. The living room design is a masterclass in Greek luxury, featuring plush Chesterfield armchairs and Blizzard blue sofas adorned with Aegean blue, green, and floral cushions. The price of the fireplace is around ₹1.5 lakhs*, while the beams cost around ₹1.2 lakhs – ₹1.5 lakhs*.
“The stone fireplace with towering of brick from floor to ceiling, evokes a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and comfort, making it a beloved focal point of the living space, as often seen in Greek-Mediterranean interior decor. Distressed & dazzling: A characterful kitchen
Distressed finishes in different shades of blue adorn the kitchen cabinets, adding a touch of weathered character. Built-in appliances ensure a sleek look, while a mosaic tile dado adds a pop of colour and texture. The recessed lighting keeps the space bright and airy, with a dedicated pendant lamp illuminating the breakfast counter, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for casual meals. They added a wooden frame to separate the culinary zone from the living area, offering a subtle division without sacrificing the open floor plan.

To complete the ambience, the ceiling of the lobby features subtle LED strip lighting, casting a warm, inviting glow that mimics the soft light of the Aegean sunset.
From the Aegean Sea to outer space
In the son’s bedroom, a captivating galaxy wallpaper adorns the headboard wall, seamlessly continuing the blue and white colour scheme that permeates the entire room. This celestial element, bursting with blues and whites that mirror the Aegean Sea, creates a sense of wonder and adventure.

The son’s modern bedroom design has a built-in study table with ample storage tucked neatly into a corner. Also, check out the small workout area!
Carrying the Aegean theme into the son’s bedroom, the designer incorporated a unique twist on traditional built-in closets. A custom rattan/wicker wardrobe design in a refreshing Blizzard blue adds a touch of coastal charm while offering ample storage space. The integrated seating area provides a comfortable spot for reading or relaxing.
Continuing the Aegean theme, the son’s bathroom is designed with blue and white ceramic wall tiles. A touch-sensitive mirror adds a modern flair, while a well-appointed bathroom cabinet with ample storage ensures a clutter-free and functional space.
The unexpected twist in the Aegean dream
While the overall aesthetic leans towards the Aegean, the homeowner wanted to add some personal touches. Her bedroom features a beautiful floral wallpaper, a testament to her artistic talents as a painter. A traditional Indian trunk, reminiscent of a family heirloom, sits beside a plush lounge chair upholstered in a striking Bondi blue, creating a delightful juxtaposition of cultural influences.
This rustic dressing table crafted from beige wood adds a touch of warmth against the cool pastel blue walls.
A spacious walk-in closet and a clever pull-out drawer system have been specifically designed to accommodate the mom’s collection of custom jewellery racks. This thoughtful detail not only maximises storage space but also keeps her precious accessories organised and easily accessible.
Wood-like floor tiles provide a foundation of warmth underfoot in this bathroom, while mosaic wall tiles add a touch of visual interest and texture. Completing the spa-like atmosphere is a porcelain bowl sink!

A soothing guest retreat
Transforming the guest bedroom into a cosy retreat involved a complete colour overhaul. The walls exude a Victorian charm, thanks to the intricate trims, which perfectly complement the soothing beige and white colour palette.
A modern white cabinet in these same hues acts as a sleek storage option. Highlighting the epitome of luxury in this bedroom is the upholstered headboard design, adding an unmistakable touch of opulence to the space.
This master bedroom is a dream!
The master bedroom, our designer’s favourite part of the duplex, is where all the Santorini charms were pulled. Kudos to the limewashed walls, the distressed Indian trunk, and the vintage mirror!

The beautiful night stars-themed headboard wall costs around ₹70K to ₹75K*; a truly captivating addition! The bright limewash paint gives the room a fresh and airy feel. To add some extra dimension, the back wall features niches built right into the wall.
We can’t get enough of the unique barn door with its intricate Indian-inspired jaali cutouts. The cosy corner study, perfectly complementing the Aegean colour scheme, completes the room’s design.
The bathroom of this master, however, is a modern retreat with its touch-sensitive back-lit bathroom mirror, sleek vanity cabinets and the blue mosaic tiles.
A tale of two powder rooms
This duplex offers the ultimate convenience with not just one, but two powder rooms! A sparkling chandelier casts a warm glow over a beautiful wooden vanity and toilet. Mosaic wall tiles complete the picture, adding a touch of old-world charm.
The second powder room takes a more modern approach. Mosaic tiles take centre stage, extending from the walls and right onto the vanity itself, creating a cohesive and visually striking effect. A sleek ceramic washbasin adds a touch of minimalist style, while patterned floor tiles complete the contemporary look.
Another modern Santorini touch
This inviting living area in the second floor lounge is a blend of modern and rustic elements. The distressed doors and limewash-painted walls recreate the relaxed atmosphere of a Santorini cottage. Look closer and you’ll find beautiful details – a cabinet with unique rattan doors adding a touch of texture, while plush blue palette cushions invite you to sink in and relax.
A space-saving foldable side table cleverly transforms into a coffee table, perfect for gatherings. Underfoot, rustic wooden-looking floor tiles and a warm Indian floor lamp complete the cosy and inviting ambience.
This second-floor lounge truly offers something for everyone! Right beside the inviting living area, there’s a stylish home bar made of distressed beige wood. Handy ledges built into the mosaic wall provide additional space for displaying their barware.
Wicker & dreams
The lounge area extends into a stunning private balcony complete with a dreamy wicker swing. The intricate dream catcher hanging from the swing complements the bohemian vibe.
A fountain retreat
The fountain’s interior boasts beautiful mosaic tiles, echoing the design elements found throughout this duplex. The surrounding pebbled wall complements the fountain’s natural aesthetic. Surrounded by greenery, this fountain is a retreat within a retreat!
